Weekend trip planner for friends: find the weekend everyone is free
To plan a weekend away with friends, find the weekend first. WeGoWhen does that in one link: set a window of a few months, everyone taps the days they are free, and it ranks the weekends and long weekends that the most people can make, with their names. Free, and nobody signs up or installs anything.
The weekend problem
"Which weekend works?" in a group chat produces a handful of answers about the next two weekends, silence from half the group, and a decision nobody quite made. Then someone books, and it turns out the weekend after would have worked for everyone.
The better question is not which of these two weekends, but which days are you free over the next three months. Asked once, of everyone, it contains the answer - and the answer may be a Thursday-to-Sunday nobody thought to propose.
How to find the weekend
- Create a trip covering the next few months. Name it, set the window, and you get the link. No account.
- Drop the link in the group chat. Ask everyone to tap every day they are free, not just weekends. A Friday or Monday off is what turns a weekend into a long weekend.
- Set the minimum to 2 days. The "Min" box hides anything shorter. Try 3 or 4 to see whether a long weekend gets the same people.
- Pick the top row. Ranked by how many people can make every day of it, then by length, then by date. Each row lists who is in.
When some people have not answered
WeGoWhen sends no reminders - the nudge still happens in your chat. The ranking updates as answers come in, so you can see whether waiting for the last two people could change anything: if the top range already has everyone else, their answer only decides whether they are in it.
Questions people ask
How do you pick a weekend that works for a group of friends?
Ask everyone which days they are free over the next few months, all in one place, rather than voting on two proposed weekends. WeGoWhen collects that through one link and ranks the weekends and longer stretches by how many people can make all of them.
Is there a free app to plan a weekend trip with friends?
For agreeing the dates, WeGoWhen is free with no paid tier and needs no account or email from anyone. It does dates only - for the itinerary, bookings and cost-splitting, use a tool built for those once the weekend is fixed.
Can it find a long weekend rather than just Saturday and Sunday?
Yes. Everyone marks individual days, so a run from Thursday to Monday shows up whenever people are free for it. Set the minimum length to 3 or 4 days to see only long weekends.
